Brasmar invests in environmental certification as a differentiator for the company
Brasmar recognises the importance of assuming a commitment regarding environmental protection, which provides the company with its raw material. Therefore, the enormous passion for the sea, for the protection of the oceans and for the planet, has guided Brasmar to certify its Environmental Management System according to the ISO 14001:2015 standard.
This standard allowed us to assume a set of good practices, such as the investment in reducing the use of plastic and other natural resources, which not only minimise the environmental impact generated by the business, but also allow a reduction in costs, while improving the company’s competitiveness.
A greater reinforcement of our institutional image and following the constant evolution of the market is possible, not only with this certification, but also with the one obtained for Brasmar’s occupational health and safety management system, according to the ISO 45001:2018 standard. This is a standard that focuses on the organisational context and on the quality of work performed by the employees, ensuring the company’s compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements that aim for occupational health and safety protection.
As the ultimate purpose, the ISO 45001:2018 standard allows for the prevention of injuries and occupational health problems of its employees. It is worth mentioning that in 2018 Brasmar had 489 employees and that the company was able to reduce, in about 25%, all work-related accidents. Most importantly, these standards are commitments that we make: the commitment to ensure a continuous improvement of the environmental performance of our activities, by promoting respect for the planet and for future generations, and the commitment to create healthy and safe workplaces for our employees.
AN ONGOING PROCESS
During three years, Brasmar will undergo follow-up audits performed by TÜV, the certifying body, in order to verify the constant process updating. At the end of that period, in 2022, an audit to renew the certification will be performed and, in that sense, an ongoing improvement process will be ensured, which demonstrates Brasmar’s commitment to its employees, clients and partners in the long-term. Because our strategy is effectively investing in the present to build and protect the future.
